In 1988 I left "EVERYDAY MUSIC" and decided to form my own Entertainment Agency and go back to live performing as a solo artist under the name "PAUL DAVID" , and this is the thing I enjoy most. This is what I have been doing up to the present day, although all my live work is very local, travelling long distances is something I can well do without. I made an exception to this in the early nineties when for three years I spent six weeks of the summer appearing in cabaret on the Olau Line which ran between Sheerness in Kent to Vlissingen in Holland. It was a good experience and I had quite a few of the Guys n' Dolls fans coming on board to see me.

In 1996 I went over to Holland to visit Dominic and Julie who had been working as a duo, calling themselves "GRANT & FORSYTH". They had been very successful in Holland singing country and western songs and were in the middle of a theatre tour. At the end of the show they got me up to sing "Rocking all over the World with them, which is the song "Guys n' Dolls" closed their act with and it was just like old times.

In 1997 I wrote and recorded my own CD, and one of the songs "I Don't Wanna Lose You" was covered by my boyhood hero Lonnie Donegan. I had met Lonnie in the Guys n' Dolls days and caught up with him again with in 1992. Later in the same year I appeared with Martine on the BBC2 television show "NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS" where we appeared in the identity parade and the panel managed to pick us out. I received a few phone calls after the show saying that the panel were rude to us but anyone who knows the show is aware that you are likely to be made fun of and to be honest I thought we got off rather lightly compared to some that I've seen.

n 1998 I wrote a song called "All I Want For Christmas is a Spice Girl" much to the embarassment of my family. My own version was released on a Christmas line dance album and when Julie Forsyth heard it, after falling about laughing, she took it to Holland and it was recorded by Dutch artist Peter Koelewijn, under the name of "GOMPIE" . He had already had a major hit under this name with "Living Next Door To Alice (Alice who the F--- is Alice.)"

That just about brings things up to date except to say that at 67 years of age I am still gigging, singing songs from Lonnie Donegan through to The Beatles and right up to songs by Travis and The Stereophonics with the odd instrumental by The Shadows and Gary Moore thrown in. Check out my dates and if I am in your area, come and see me, I'll be glad of the company.
